Zimmer Cryolipolysis in Malaysia

Zimmer Cryolipolysis in Malaysia: Process, Prices, & Side Effects

Have you been eating well and exercising, but you just can’t seem to lose the rolls around your stomach, or maybe your arms are a bit flabbier than you want them to be? Enter: Zimmer cryolipolysis, also known as fat freezing.

Fat freezing is a targeted fat reduction treatment that’s non-invasive, and it’s a great alternative to liposuction if you don’t feel ready to fully commit to a surgical option. The name tells you how it works: the fat is literally frozen, and from there, they are permanently removed from the body.

There are a few cryolipolysis devices and treatments available in Malaysia, namely CoolSculpting, Zimmer Cryolipolysis, and Clatuu Alpha. And although each brand has their own advantages, this article will mainly discuss Zimmer Cryolipolysis, and how it can help you achieve the body of your dreams.

Zimmer Cryolipolysis in Malaysia

Zimmer Cryolipolysis, also known as Z Lipo, is a form of fat freezing treatment to reduce fat and contour the body. While you may know CoolSculpting to be the household brand for cryolipolysis treatments, Zimmer and CoolSculpting are two distinct brands with their own advantages.

Like CoolSculpting, Zimmer Cryolipolysis uses low temperatures to freeze and kill the fat cells without damaging the surrounding tissue. This happens because fat cells freeze at a lower temperature than tissue, allowing for permanent and targeted fat removal. It takes about 10 to 12 weeks for the fat cells to break down and travel through the lymphatic system to be naturally deposited by the body. The treatment is totally safe, effective, and virtually pain-free.

Z Lipo differs from CoolSculpting in one major way – Z Lipo can be used in tandem with ZWave Pro, which is a shockwave system that can help to further enhance results. Although it can be used on its own, many practitioners combine ZLipo and  ZWave Pro as it not only can increase fat loss, it can also stimulate lymphatic drainage and tighten the skin, leading to a more contoured appearance.

How Does Cryolipolysis Work?

Firstly, the dimensions and shape of the fatty bulge is assessed, and the area is outlined with a pen. A gel pad is placed over the skin to protect it, and then the applicator of the CoolSculpting machine is applied. The fatty bulge is suctioned into the hollow part of the applicator, and the fat freezing begins.

You will be awake throughout the entire procedure without any anaesthesia, but don’t worry as you may feel some discomfort, but not really pain. However, you may feel other sensations. When the applicator is applied, you will feel a tugging or a pulling sensation as the fatty bulge is sucked into the applicator. Then, you’ll feel an intense cold as the Zimmer device works to freeze the fat cells, and you might feel some tingling, stinging, aching, or cramping. These feelings will resolve in minutes, as the area will go numb from the cold. The fat layer is actually cooled down to a temperature between -1°C and 4°C.

Zimmer can take up to an hour, depending on the size of the area. Patients typically can do other low effort activities during this procedure, like watch TV, use their phone, or read a book. After the area is treated, it is massaged for a few minutes to help break up the fat cells and improve the final results.

There is no downtime required, and patients can resume their normal activities as soon as the procedure is over. Patients may feel a little sore, as if they just completed a workout. If you feel any pain, contact your doctor immediately.

Zimmer works because the fat cells are frozen without damaging the surrounding tissue. When the fat cells are frozen, they crystallise, and are damaged or die in the process. From there, they break down into smaller pieces and travel through the lymphatic system to be naturally disposed of from the body.

Typically, it will take about 8 to 12 weeks to see visible results, depending on the size of the fat cells and the areas being treated. One session is usually enough for smaller areas, but larger areas may require 2 to three sessions.

What are the Side Effects of Cryolipolysis?

Although generally considered a very safe procedure, fat freezing does have its risks and side effects like any other cosmetic procedure. Some of the risks include:

  • Pain or aches
  • Stinging or tingling of the skin
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Skin discoloration or bruising
  • Skin sensitivity or numbness

A rare side effect that patients may experience is paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, which is when the number of fat cells increase instead of decreasing. Although there’s only a 1% chance of it happening, this complication may seem familiar as it is what happened to Linda Evangelista after her CoolSculpting procedure.

Who Are Good Candidates for Cryolipolysis?

Generally, cryolipolysis is suitable for those who have stubborn fat deposits that can be difficult to address through diet and exercise alone. Fat freezing can also be done as a final step for those who have been going through a weight loss programme, and need a final push to get to their goal weight. Cryolipolysis is a body sculpting procedure, so it’s a great option for those wanting to get a more contoured appearance. However, it is not a weight loss programme, and is not intended to treat obesity.

Cryolipolysis is not suitable for areas of skin that have cuts or injuries, contain severe varicose veins, dermatitis, or other skin lesions. People who are sensitive to cold temperatures also do not make good candidates, and neither are those who have the following conditions:

  • Raynaud’s phenomenon
  • Cryoglobulinemia
  • Paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria
  • Cold urticaria
  • Cold agglutinin disease
  • Nerve disorders
  • Inflammatory skin disorders
  • Skin conditions caused by immune system disorders, such as eczema or psoriasis

Cryolipolysis is also risky for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

What is the Price of Zimmer Cryolipolysis and CoolSculpting in Malaysia?

Although the price will largely depend on the size of the area being treated, the average price of a single cryolipolysis session in Malaysia is between RM 1,500 to RM 2,000.

Summary

Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive and non-surgical cosmetic procedure for fat loss. It uses low temperatures to kill fat cells, which are then naturally deposited from the body through the lymphatic system. It is a permanent way to get rid of stubborn fat, and is designed to target specific areas of the body, such as the flanks, stomach, arms, and thighs. There are several different devices that can be used to freeze fat, namely CoolSculpting, Zimmer Cryolipolysis, and Clatuuu Alpha, all with different advantages.
